Nissha has developed the "New Restoration System" based on long years of experience and know-how and has achieved more speedy and homogenized restoration at a higher level.

Nissha has been engaged in many difficult restorations of important cultural assets for a long time. It is "New Restoration System" that was developed based on our experience, know-how and independent technologies. By mechanizing as much as possible the processes previously dependent on manual works, we have realized a more speedy and homogenized restoration work at a higher level.

Key Features

Realization of speedier and higher restoration quality with systematized "water-manufacture casting" process.

We have systematized the "water-manufacture casting" process, which is essential for restoration. As the quality and density control of paper fibers and casting quantity and timing are constantly maintained, there is no variation like that which occurs in manual work, and a stable restoration with a homogenized finishing becomes possible. Speed-up by mechanization enabled restoration in shorter periods and enormous volumes of old books and documents, which have been left intact, are expected to be processed for restoration.

Realization of finishing with no sense of discomfort and without hurting the original.

Responding to restoration of any paper quality. Without hurting the original or damaging coloring, aesthetic property or touch, we will carry out restoration depending on the size and paper quality. If necessary, re-restoration with reversibility is possible. Severely damaged double face paper (either Japanese or western paper), which previously required high skills, can be restored.

Responding to restoration of western paper and western style books

We have achieved a more secure finishing of western paper by stricter fiber density control and work process management. A new path for preservation of western paper, western style books and posters, restoration of which had been abandoned, has been developed.

Realization of homogenized acid-free paper at the same time as Restoration

By neutralizing paper evenly with de-acidification processing at the same time as restoration, re-deterioration of paper is prevented.

Realization of restoration for every paper quality by a variety of restoration techniques

In addition to a new restoration system, with a variety of restoration techniques, including the conventional technique of filling the holes of a deficient portion one by one with tweezers, and newly developed restoration technology using no water, we can restore at a high quality level originals in various conditions and paper quality.
